Welcome to the Ensminger House. A vacation home at the base of the beautiful Elkhorn Mountains in Baker Valley, Northeast Oregon.
History
The Ensminger house was built in the early 1900's. The Rock Creek area was once a small but booming mining town that was washed out when an earthen dam burst and flooded the town in 1917. The house survived the flood and is one of the few remaining structures from this era. Amy Ensminger purchased this home in the late 20's and it has been in the family ever since. The home has been updated and is owned by her first great grandson.
Area
Area attractions are the Anthony Lakes Ski Resort (rumored to have the best powder in Oregon) (www.anthonylakes.com)which is located 19 miles northwest of the house.
Baker City, population 10,000, lies 20 minutes southeast from the house. Baker City is home to the Geiser Grand Hotel located in the Historic Downtown area. Baker also has shopping, museums and the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. (www.visitbaker.com)
